The 1975 building of the museum with its beautiful large garden was designed by Architect Ares Constantinides especially for its intended use today. In its Great Hall the history of Thrace comes to life. The exhibition here ranges with items from the Prehistoric age all the way until the Byzantine Empire. Archaeological findings exhibited in the museum come from archaeological dig sites in Rhodope, Abdera, Xanthi and Messi Evros.
